I had a hearing today in Portland, Maine with administrative law judge Edward F. "Ted" Gaulin.
Judge Gaulin had previously retired as a Social Security ALJ, but has now returned to active status.
Social Security Commissioner Michael Astrue, when addressing a conference of Social Security claimant representatives in New Orleans this Spring, said the SSA was trying to bring retired judges back into active status to fill vacancies. Judge Gaulin is an example of that trend.
My first Social Security disability hearing was with Judge Gaulin.
